About us
The passion for good and healthy food has been in our family's blood for generations. Our ancestors in the Italian Abruzzo, up to the times of our grandparents, were still 100% self-sufficient and had to live on cattle breeding & agriculture alone. For them there was no alternative, so it was natural to keep cows, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens and other farm animals, in order to use them accordingly. In addition to livestock farming, the cultivation of olives, wine, wheat, maize and all kinds of other vegetables and fruit played a decisive role in their survival.
People lived with the seasons and the generosity of nature - but had to accept and survive hard losses in years with a poor harvest. Life was sometimes very hard and full of privation. Due to the geographically remote location and the morphology of Abruzzo, there were hardly any trade relations with the neighbouring regions, let alone foreign relations. Production took place for personal use and for trade within the own municipalities and counties. As a result, Abruzzo's agricultural products still retain their own originality and have not adapted to other tastes.
Since the end of the 90s we have started to take care of our olive groves, which have been in family ownership for generations (and almost forgotten), and to make them flourish again. Among them there are many old autochthonous ("native") olive varieties that are not found in any other region of Italy. We have made it our mission to breathe new life into these very varieties in order to produce our extra virgin olive oil of the highest quality. The result is a typical olive oil from Abruzzo: very fruity and at the same time not too spicy - a very well-balanced and mild olive oil with lots of flavour! Try it yourself and let us know what you think.
